BIOGRAPHY:
Sotiris Dounoukos is a graduate of
the Film and Television School of the Victorian College of the
Arts, Melbourne, Australia. He has worked as a filmmaker locally
and overseas and is a recipient of the New South Wales Film and
Television Office's Young Filmmaker's Fund. The short films he
has directed and produced have screened nationally and internationally,
including at the Melbourne International Film Festival, Edinburgh
Film Festival and New Films / New Directors at the Lincoln Centre,
New York. He has also directed music videos for Australian and
international bands.
He made his feature, Joe Cinque's Consolation, in 2016.
CRITICAL
OVERVIEW:
Sotiris's short films have focused
on themes of alienation within a day to day context. His interest
in "human drama" combines a formal design that attempts to reflect
the shifting nature of the various characters' places in the world
and their relation to each other.
