CRITICAL
OVERVIEW:
Sensitive to the quotidian, Madeleine’s work is inspired by people and places out of time, while exploring the complexities of memory and nostalgia.
Her subjects are usually uneasy in their contemporary time and space: from long-term missing people to sailors on shore leave, or abandoned industrial sites to aging cult icons.
Stylistically, Madeleine employs a wide range of documentary practices depending on her subject, from observational and interview based storytelling, through to the expanded potentials of experimental cinema.
She hopes to one day find the happy space in-between.
