2005 - Saloni M presents The Shades of Love Ernie
Gruner He also works as an improviser with Playback Theatre, and has contributed music for theatre with multicultural themes : "Russian Soup" (Russian), "Exile & Ecstasy" (Jewish) and "Emma Celebrazione" (Italian). He plays Jewish music with Klezmeritis & Soleluna, Greek with Melisma, Middle-Eastern with Yalla! as well as other European and jazz styles with bands Flirting Mazurkas, Gypsy Nights and Jugularity. Ernie often plays the serenading solo fiddler for Valentine's day or romantic occasions. He wrote a piece in the style of a gypsy serenade which explores the 'shades of love'. Two bands he plays in are often hired for events highlighting romance and love as they have repertoires which include or allude to these areas, eg. flirting mazurkas. He plays a Sephardic repertoire, which are women's songs, often lyrically related to love, lost love or confused love. Klezmer (East European Jewish music) is Ernie's speciality, and within this type of music there is a genre that relates to musician/s playing for a bride before her wedding to make her cry - releasing emotions of change and loss is one theory associated with this music.
