A young woman, Emma (Amelie Dunda), studying at university and living at home
with her mother and brother in the Adelaide suburbs, falls in love with a

Entranced by the man and the town, she begins to feel a sense of excitement and vitality in her life.

A fairy-tale but realist musical, where every line is sung,
My Darling in Stirling
is a joyful but also melancholic film,
about lost innocence. It is inspired by the 1964 film
The Umbrellas of Cherbourg.

Reviews:    "As a spectator, I felt a euphoria rising within me from about minute 2 all the way to minute 79 of My Darling in Stirling. This is not only because of a feeling of immense pride in the achievement of my dear friend, director-writer-editor (and also eternal webmaster of this site) Bill Mousoulis; but also because of the compact eloquence, stylistic finesse and emotional force of the work – a new and higher plateau for this artist."
                               - Adrian Martin, Film Critic, October 6, 2023.

"This film by Bill Mousoulis is not only the most beautiful film romance I came across this year, it is as well a strong reminder that there is still this freedom to make such films"
                               - Rüdiger Tomczak, shomingekiblog, October 18, 2023.

"My Darling in Stirling is a recitative musical in which every line of dialogue is sung. This type of continuous operetta is difficult for any filmmaker to pull off since it not only demands they possess a knowledge of dramatic rhythm and modulation but requires complete cohesion from the cast and crew ... the result is something akin to my dream film, a bittersweet celebration of ordinary life."
                               - Frankie Kanatas, Senses of Cinema, October 2023.

Screenings: 10, including Adelaide Film Festival, Oct 22, 2023, Q&A screening Adelaide, Mar 23, 2024, and ACMI, Melbourne on Sep 22, 2024.
